Members of the All Progressives Congress in Ijesa-South Federal Constituency have called on the Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, and the Director General of the Department of State Service to rescue their souls from political thugs allegedly hired by the Peoples Democratic Party.
The APC members said they were being incessantly attacked by the PDP hoodlums who used the residence of the Osun East Senatorial Candidate of the party, Francis Fadahunsi, as an abode and torture centre.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday in Osogbo, the Acting Chairman of the APC Campaign Committee in the federal constituency, Idowu Korede, stated that about seven members of the party have sustained grievous injuries from the PDP’s attack.
Among the seven victims, according to Korede is Hon. Folarin Fafowora, a member representing Ilesa West State Constituency, who was violently attacked on January 30, 2015 at Isokun Roundabout, Ilesa.
According to Korede, the PDP’s thugs, who have been on rampage do abduct loyalists of the APC in the federal constituency and take them to Fadahunsi’s house in Ilase, Obokun Local Government Area of the state, where they unleash terror on them and later hand them over to the police.
He alleged that Fadahunsi and some PDP chieftains in the state had held a meeting on January 14, 2015 where they concluded on kidnapping notable APC members, massive arrest of the members and destruction of APC campaign billboards.
Korede further alleged that the PDP chieftain also concluded at the meeting to deploy thugs to Atakumosa East and West with guns and dangerous weapons to threaten eligible voters from exercising their voting rights on election days.
The APC chieftain maintained that ever since the meeting was held, the APC members have been witnessing series of attacks and provocation, adding that almost all the billboards of the APC candidates have been destroyed as planned by the PDP thugs.
Korede said: “A member of our party, Omoniyi Dotun, was terribly attack at Iperindo in Atakumosa East Local Government by PDP thugs who were led by Ikotun Olaoluwa (BOND) purported to have been anchored by Fadahunsi on January 28, 2015.
“On January 30, 2015 Hon. Folarin Fafowora, a member representing Ilesa West State Constituency, and Phillip Sunday Ademola were attacked by some people led by a notorious thug that has been declared wanted by the police on several occasion,Sunday Akinyemi, popular called “Yellow” and Solo who are known members of the PDP at Isokun, Ilesa.
“The thugs also vandalised Ademola’s car. It was through divine intervention that he was able to move the vehicle to a fairly safe place from where he called the Police. The Police came and took the vehicle to their Ayeso, Ilesa station and the matter was officially reported. It is however sad that despite making an official report to them, the Police has not taken step or made any arrest up till date.
“On January 6, one APC member, Adeyemi Jelili, was also attacked by PDP thugs, led by one Sina Eleran, who unleashed severe machetes cut on him before taking him to the home of Fadahunsi at Ilase where they invited men of Anti Robbery Squad to arrest him and taking to Osogbo. The said Adeyemi Jelili was not released on bail until 10th February, 2015.
“Also on the 7th February, Alfa Olaide Alarape and one other member of our party from Ilesa West were abducted and whisked away to Fadahunsi’s where they unleashed terror on them. They were severely beaten through which they sustained degrees of injuries in that process.
“When they discovered that the injuries sustained might result to death, they quickly called the SARS Office in Osogbo to come and pick them to their station. This abduction was led by Ibukun Fadipe (IBK), Bishop, lighter and others.
“In another irritating episode, Sola Olakolu, a female member of our great party was on 7th February, 2015 accosted by one Taiwo otherwise called Iya Sadiq on her way from a Ward meeting. She was harassed and intimidated for no just cause. In the tradition of our great Party, she refused to join issues with her despite the unwarranted intimidation. In a surprising twist of event; the said Iya Sadiq came to her house with policemen to arrest her son.
“The clear goal of PDP and Fadahunsi  in Ijesaland is to embark on harassing, intimidating and attacking the APC supporters, using police and DSS.”
Korede said it was disheartening and disgusting seeing some members of the PDP violating the rules of the peaceful accord signed by both the President Goodluck Jonathan and General Muhammudu Buhari of the APC.
