Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party would have a crucial meeting on Wednesday.
A statement by the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Godswill Akpabio, said the meeting would hold at the Akwa Ibom State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja by 4pm.
Although the agenda of the meeting was not released to the public, sources said upcoming PDP primaries and the national convention of the party among other crucial issues would feature in their discussion.
In a related development, the PDP Governors’ Forum has congratulated the Governor of Katsina State, the Katsina State chapter of the PDP and the entire people of Katsina State on the recent peaceful conduct of local government election in the state.
A statement by Akpabio noted that it was remarkable that PDP under the able leadership of Governor Shema won in all the 34 local government areas and the 361 wards in the state.
According to the Chairman PDP Governors’ Forum: “This victory further confirms the confidence that the good people of Katsina State have in our great party, the PDP, which they have kept faith with since the advent of the present democratic dispensation in 1999.
“It is also noteworthy that as the party with a real national transformation agenda under the able leadership of our dear President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, the PDP administration led by the Game Changer, Dr Adamu Mu’azu has also kept faith with the good people of Katsina State and indeed other Nigerians who have witnessed quantum leap in democratic dividends.”
Akpabio added that the victory of PDP in Katsina State was a foretaste of many more victories for the party in the years ahead and urged Nigerians to keep supporting the party.
