Nigeria’s First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has arrived in the country after spending several weeks in a German hospital battling an undisclosed ailment.
Dame Jonathan landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at about 4pm.
She was received by a large crowd of well wishers.
State-funded national television, the Nigerian Television Authority, televised the ceremony heralding her arrival.
The failure of the government to make an official statement on Dame Jonathan’s ailment fuelled several theories about what went wrong with the First Lady.
A section of the media said she had to undergo series of surgery to remain alive.
Her husband, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, visited her last week in Germany.
