The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, is to lead prominent Islamic leaders to Ibadan on September 30 for the fund raising for the building of N1.5 billion International Islamic Centre for the Muslim Community of Oyo State.
A statement by the MUSCOYS Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Abdur-Rahman Balogun, said the Oyo State Governor, Ishaq Ajimobi, will host his colleague governors from Osun, Ogun, Kano and Kaduna States.
Speaking on the long list of Special Guests of Honour, Alhaji Ishaq Kunle Sanni, the Chairman of the Community, said Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President Dangote Group of Companies, will lead others like Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo, Alhaji Ahmed Raji (SAN) and Alhaji Sakariyau Babalola.
The launching, slated for the permanent site of the community at the Aerodrome GRA, Samonda, Ibadan, will start from 10am.
Other dignitaries expected at the launching include Alhaji Daud Makanjuola, Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, including Edo and Delta States, as well as the League of Imams and Alfas in Yorubaland and other Islamic title holders.
Sanni said the multi-purpose International Islamic Centre will be the first of its kind in Nigeria and West Africa as it contains all facilities for the Muslim Ummah.
The Islamic leader said the centre belongs to all Muslims, though located in Ibadan, adding that all Muslim groups and societies have been invited to be part of the history making occasion.
