The National Leadership of the All Progressives Congress on Thursday directed stakeholders in Oyo State to collectively agree on modalities for the State Congress immediately.
Senator James Akpanudoedehe, National Secretary of the party’s Caretaker and Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee, also directed them to report back to the committee within one week.
Akpanudoedehe said that the party CECPC gave the directive immediately after the meeting of stakeholders with the party’s leadership at the National Secretariat in Abuja.
According to him, the meeting followed the October 30 APC State Congress held in Oyo State, which had thrown the state chapter into crisis.
The APC scribe, however, assured the stakeholders that the party’s leadership would take a decision that would be in the overall interest of the party, particularly its members in the state.
Among stakeholders present at the meeting were Senator Ayo Adeseun; Adebayo Shitu, former Minister of Communication; Oloye Fijabiyi; Sunday Dare, Minister of Youths and Sports; Soji Akanbi; Bayo Adelabu; and Joseph Tegbe.
Adeseun, who spoke with newsmen after the closed-door meeting, said the last Saturday factional State Congress was not recognised, adding that it had already been cancelled.
