The Action Congress of Nigeria in Oyo State on Tuesday resolved to unify all the splinter groups within it with a view to further strengthening the party.
Consequently, the party has set up a committee saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that all the splinter groups fuse into it to enhance unity and cohesion.
This was contained in a communiqué read out to newsmen by the ACN State Secretary, Mojeed Olaoya, shortly after the meeting, which was attended by Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State; Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Monsurat Sunmonu; Senators Ayo Adeseun and Olufemi Lanlehin; members of the State Executive Council, among other party stalwarts.
The party also called on members to eschew rumour mongering but rather create room for proper integration of aggrieved members into its fold.
While acknowledging the cordial relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government in the state, the ACN charged members to support the two arms of government to ensure effective service delivery to the people of the state.
It passed a vote of confidence on the Ajimobi administration and expressed confidence in the leadership of the party.
The party, in apparent reference to the recent rumoured arrest of Governor Ajimobi’s wife by the London Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom, also lashed out at those it called unpatriotic elements engaging in politics of bitterness, saying they were only out to destroy the integrity of the First Lady.
