Ten persons were on Friday arraigned by the police for the alleged murder of the Principal Private Secretary of Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, Comrade Olaitan Oyerinde.
The 10 persons were arraigned before a Benin Magistrate Court.
Those arraigned on charges of conspiracy, murder, armed robbery, illegal possession of arms and receiving stolen property were Danjuma Musa, Murtala Usman, Auta Umaru, Moses Asamaokoro alias Auchi, Garba Usman Maisamari, Umaru Adamu alias Daura, Rev. David Ugbolor, Wilfred Isarhieirhiu, Hassan Babatunde Aliyu and Idris Abdul Hameed.
Three out of the 10 were said to be at large.
Seven of them – Garba Usman Maisamari, Danjuma Musa, Muritala Usman, Moses Asamah Okoro, Auta Umaru Ali, Umaru Adamu alias Duna, Rev. David Ugolor – were arraigned for conspiracy, armed robbery, stealing and murder of Olaitan Oyerinde.
Wilfred Iserhiienrhien was charged for illegal possession of AAA cartridges.
Hassan Aliyu Babete and Idris Abdulahamid were charged for receiving properties stolen from Oyerinde.
The police said that Investigation into the murder of Oyerinde uncovered yet another separate and independent murder of another Nigerian.
It was revealed that Abubakar Mohammed, Ilyasu Abdullahi, Danjuma Musa, Moses Asama Okoro and Muritala (surname not known) now at large, had been involved in a previous case of conspiracy, armed robbery and murder that led to the death of one Alhaji Ismaila Aliyu.
They have consequently been charged separately for conspiracy, armed robbery, stealing and murder of Ismaila Aliyu.
The case was adjourned to September 27, 2012.
The suspects were ordered remanded at Oko Prison in Benin.
