Nigeria’s basketball team, also known as D’Tigers, have been boosted with the arrival of the team’s skipper, Olumide Oyedeji, for the all important qualifiers for the 2015 FIBA Africa Basketball Championship and All African Games against Burkina Faso on March 16 and 25 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
Oyedeji, who now plays for London Lions as centre, has so far completed two training sessions since his arrival on Wednesday.
He believes the team is in high spirit and will come back to Lagos for the return leg of the qualifier with nothing short of victory.
“The guys are set and we are ready. All we want is to qualify for Tunisia 2015 and that’s what we plan to do in Burkina Faso and later at home here in Nigeria,” he assured Nigerians.
Oyedeji joins former NBA draftee, Ejike Ugboaja, who is set for Greece after the qualifiers, following his move from Turkish second division league side, Istanbul Teknik Universiti, where he starred in the 2013/2014 season, as the only foreign based players in the squad.
The team leaves for the Burkina Faso capital via Asky Airline on Friday for the March 16 encounter.
