Osun United FC on Saturday beat visiting Gateway United FC of Abeokuta 2-0 during Nigerian National League Week 28 match at the Osogbo Township Stadium.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the winning goals came in the 48th and 89th minutes of the game, with two strikes coming from Jide Fatokun, giving Osun United the three maximum points at stake.
Speaking to reporters immediately after the match, Coach Adams Usman of Gateway United FC, said his team lost to a superior team.
Usman said: “The game was a 50-50 chance game. They converted the chances they had, while we failed to convert our own chances.
“The officiating was alright, the match officials were fair in their officiating, just that we failed to convert the chances we had during the game.”
The coach and other team officials of Osun United were, however, unavailable for comment on the match as they all exited the stadium without granting press interview.
NAN reports that the win has placed Osun Utd on the seventh position on the league table with 42 points and six more matches to the end of the season.
