Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State and Chairman of the Osun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Gubernatorial Primary Election on Monday submitted the report of the exercise to the party’s National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus.
The election, which held on July 21 in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, returned Senator Ademola Adeleke as the governorship candidate for the September 22 election in the state.
A statement issued by Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Francis Ottah Agbo, quoted Dickson, while submitting the report at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, as saying the exercise was successful.
Dickson said the primary election in Osun State was the most keenly contested.
He expressed confidence that if all the PDP leaders and stakeholders bury their differences and work together, the party will trounce the ruling All Progressives Congress in the election.
He commended former Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu; former Minister of Water Resources, Sarah Ochekpe; and other members of the committee for their cooperation.
The statement also quoted Secondus, while receiving the report, as commending Dickson and members of his team for conducting a transparent primary in Osun State.
Secondus pledged that PDP under his watch would continue to expand the frontiers of internal democracy, while assuring all aspirants of a level playing field in all congresses.
