The Eburu of Iba, Oba Adekunle Adeogun-Okunoye Oyedeji, has lauded the National Youth Service Corps for providing free medical treatment to rural dwellers in the state.
Indigent residents of the State benefited from the NYSC free medical outreach in various towns and communities in the state.
The traditional ruler commended the initiative and urged the NYSC to sustain it.
The Osun State Coordinator of the NYSC, Ayodele Adewale Adegoke, who flagged-off the free medical outreach on Monday, said no fewer than 500 persons benefited from the free medical treatment in the state.
Adegoke said the Director General of the corps, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, remained committed to the NYSC Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers aimed at helping indigent people who need medical treatment, but could not afford the medical bills.
He added that the initiative was aimed at promoting the wellbeing of indigent persons at the grassroots by granting them easier access to free and quality healthcare.
He said the NYSC health interventions had made enormous impacts in the lives of many Nigerians and also improved reproductive health and reduced maternal and infant mortality.
At Iba town in Ifelodun Local Government Area, residents came out in large number for treatment.
They expressed gratitude to the NYSC.
Some of the beneficiaries, including 80-year-old Umaani Odere, and a 90-year-old man, Aogun Adetokun Adediran, said the medical outreach was timely.
