Asisat Oshoala’s goal against Korea Republic at the Women’s World Cup has been nominated for the Goal of the Tournament award.
A sublime finish by the three-time African Woman Footballer of the Year sealed victory for the African champions.
The Barcelona forward showed her speed in getting to the ball first, holding off a defender and then taking the ball round keeper Kim Minjung.
She still had it all to do, however.
Off balance and with the angle narrowing with each step, Oshoala wrapped her right foot around the ball and somehow sent it spinning inside the near post and over the line.
Her superb finish sealed the points for Nigeria and was rightly selected as one of the finest goals of France 2019.
Oshoala will vie for honours against Lucy Bronze, Cristine, Aurora Galli, Jackie Groenen, Yui Hasegawa, Amandine Henry, Sofia Jakobsson, Alex Morgan, and Cameroon’s Ajara Nchout.
