The city of Lagos will be agog on Thursday (today) as all roads lead to the Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos, the venue of the third edition of the Nigerian Sports Award, as the world of sports will be looking forward to know who wins what at the award ceremony.
Top guns in the Nigerian sports community, invited guests and nominees alike are already in Lagos from all over the world to witness this year’s edition of the coveted award. Nigerian veteran athlete and lifetime award winner, Modupe Oshikoya, and table tennis star, Aruna Quadri, arrived the country from their base in the United States of America and Portugal respectively.
Speaking on the preparations for Thursday’s event, the General Manager of Unmissable Incentives Limited, organisers of the award, Kayode Idowu, noted that all is now set for the award ceremony.
Idowu promises this year’s awards ceremony to be better than the second edition, which was held last year.
He said: “We are very proud to tell you that all is now set for the third edition of the Nigerian Sports Award holding at the Muson Centre, Onikan Lagos.
“We are indeed elated over the quality of dignitaries who have not only confirmed but are already in Lagos for the award.”
Idowu urged all invited guests, nominees and the press to be at the venue at 5pmprompt as there will be no room for ‘African time’.
This year, as a result of the partnership deal between Supersports and Unmissable Incentives, the Nigerian Sports Award will be televised on Supersports for the general public.
There are a total of 14 categories of the award to be won.
These include the Sportsman of the Year Award, Sportswoman of the Year Award, Footballer of the Year Award (Male & Female), Ball Sports Person of the Year Award, Coach of the Year, Team of the Year, Discovery of the Year, Track & Field Star of the Year, School Sports Award, Administrator of the Year, Sports Journalist of the Year (Print & Electronic) and Sports Governor of the Year award.
