Out of favour Super Eagles’ striker, Osaze Peter Odemwingie, insists Cardiff City are on the right track as he settles down to a new lease of life with the Premier League new comers.
The £2.5 million recruit from West Brom made his first City appearance against Spurs on Sunday, coming on as a 65th minute substitute in the last-gasp 1-0 home defeat.
“It would have been fantastic to score or provide an assist, but it wasn’t to be,” said Odemwingie, who went close against Spurs with a shot which flashed across goal.
He said: “There were only positives from the manager (Malky Mackay) after the match.
“He was happy with the performance.
“It’s important we play well as a team and we were desperately close to earning a point.
“There were lots of good signs.
“We have a strong team and that will show as the season develops.”
Speaking about his debut on Sunday, Odemwingie said: “I was out of breath and nervous for a minute or so.
“It wasn’t an ordinary for me, but the fans were there for me and helped me through with their vocal support.
“I did not expect such a great reception.”
