One person was today shot dead by the police, with three others critically injured on the first day of the mass protest by Nigerians against the removal of the subsidy on petrol by the government.
Unfortunately, the dead, simply identified as Demola, and the injured were not a part of the mass action.
They were playing football on Aderinto Street, off Thomas Salako Street, off Yaya Abatan Street, Ogba, Lagos.
The police team was reportedly led by the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Pen Cinema Police Station, Mr. Segun Fabunmi.
As at press time, the police had deployed a Armoured Personnel Carrier to disperse those protesting the killing.
Gun shots and tear gas were also employed in the process, making the area a no-go zone for now.
