The gang war in Mushin area of Lagos State has turned deadly following the killing of one Bode, a 29-year-old man.
It was gathered that Bode was killed after members of a rival gang fought for supremacy in the area on Monday.
An eyewitness stated that the rival gang from Akodu Street gathered midnight at Adeyemi Street to retaliate an earlier attack on one of their members.
The gang member, identified as Joseph Odebowale, was allegedly beaten to stupor by “the Boys from Adeyemi Street at Mushin Olosha.
“Odewale was beaten up by some youths on Adeyemi Street two weeks ago for raping an unidentified girlfriend of the gang.
“His gang members came to retaliate when they were attacked by the rival boys and in the process, Bode was shot dead.”
The residents alleged that one Joseph, was the leader of the gang that killed Bode.
A source said: “Joseph brought some guys from Onipanu Toll Gate to Adeyemi Street on a revenge mission on about 12.30am.
“The youths shot sporadically into the air, making everybody to scamper for safety.
“They later spotted Bode and shot him.
“He died on the spot.”
After Bode was shot dead it was gathered that his gang members from Adeyemi Street Stormed Akoduo area and vandalised cars, shops and threatened the residents.
The residents also alleged that the youth took the laws into their hands.
A resident said: “On Sunday night, some youths came to avenge Bode’s death but instead of going to number 7 Akodu Street, where Joseph lives, they went to number 9 and vandalised vehicles and killed a dog, which was barking.
“When we saw what was happening, everybody fled the house.
“On Monday morning, they came back to number 7 and started shooting at the house.
“When they got to Odebowale’s house, they saw his mother there and threatened to kill her but policemen arrived just on time.”
The residents of Akoduo Street have called on the police to beef up security in the area.
A resident, who simply identified himself as Jimoh said: “These boys will not rest until they kill somebody on this street.
“Policemen attached to the Alakara and the Olosan Divisions were able to disperse the youths.
“We want police to give us adequate security.”
Bode has since been buried at Atan Cemetery, Yaba, Lagos on Monday.
