One person died on Saturday when the motorcade of the Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Malam Ibrahim Wakkala, was involved in an accident in Jere town on the Kaduna-Abuja highway.
Malam Yusuf Idris, the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital, saying that the driver of the pilot vehicle died on the spot.
Idris said the accident occurred when a motorcyclist suddenly crossed the road while the motorcade was passing.
He said that four security men sustained various degrees of injury in the accident.
“The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Tafa health facility while those injured are responding to treatment,” Idris said.
