The representative of Ilaje/Ese Odo Federal Constituency of Ondo State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Raphael Nomiye, is dead.
Information available to The Eagle Online has it that Nomiye died on Friday night from complications arising from cancer.
Informed sources told our correspondent that the House of Representatives member, elected on the platform of the Labour Party, has been battling with cancer in the last four years.
He was said to have just returned from the United States of America where he went for kidney transplant before he died on Friday evening.
It was gathered that Nomiye, a former Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Development Commission, visited India several times in the last four years for treatment.
He was in his first term in the House of Representatives, having vacated the OSOPADEC seat to contest the election into the House.
Nomiye is from Molutehin in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.
He defeated his closest opponent, Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party, for the House seat.
