Some supporters of the candidate of the Alliance for Democracy for the November 26 governorship election in Ondo State, Chief Olusola Oke, have been arrested in Okitipupa area of the state.
The supporters were arrested with dangerous weapons such as pump action guns, machetes and a camera.
According to available information, the supporters were said to be heading to the venue of Oke’s campaign in the town when they were accosted by soldiers of the 19th Battalion in Okitipupa.
Though the men riding in a bus initially claimed to be newsmen, a search on the bus by the soldiers yielded pump action guns, machetes and various other dangerous weapons.
They were arrested and taken to the office of the 19th Battalion in Okitipupa.
They were still being held there as at press time.
