Nigerian international, Ogenyi Onazi, is set to assist SC Lazio return to Europe by winning a Europa League spot at the end of hostilities in the Serie A this season.
Speaking on his excellent performance in Lazio’s 2-0 win over Sampdoria on Sunday, the combative midfielder said: “We played together to win and try to return to the continent.
“I equally hope that my goals can help Lazio finish tops, that is the important to us.
“We have to use our head to win games and win the Europa League spot.
“Though, we started the season slowly, but now we have to go all out for win and conquer.”
Onazi seems to have returned to the good books of Lazio’s coach, Edoardo Reja, as he was once again on duty for 90 minutes as 10-man Lazio prevailed over Sampdoria.
Antonio Candreva scored the first goal with three minutes left in the first half, feeding off the assist by young Senegalese striker, Balde Keita.
But Lazio went one man short 12 minutes into the second half, when Argentina midfielder, Lucas Biglia, was sent off in the 57th minute for a second bookable offence.
But the home side soldiered on, as Reja reshuffled the team.
Their industry paid off in the 73rd minute, as Stefano Mauri created the chance that Senad Lulic put away for the second goal.
The win moves Lazio into sixth place, but they can still drop back to 8th should Parma and Atalanta win their matches.
