Nigeria international midfielder Ogenyi Onazi was on the verge of a move to Birmingham City earlier this month.
The Championship side stuck a deal with Trabzonspor and agreed personal terms with the 24-year-old.
However, the transfer collapsed after Onazi was denied a work permit which would allow him to play in England. The former Lazio midfielder has instead remained at Trabzonspor.
Onazi has stated that he is not disappointed after his proposed move to Birmingham fell through. The combative midfielder is happy to remain at Trabzonspor and does enjoy playing for the club.
The 24-year-old midfielder joined Trabzonspor last summer from Serie A giants Lazio. Onazi registered two goals and one assist in 38 games for Trabzonspor last term.
“I’m not disappointed because I stayed at Trabzonspor,” Onazi said.
“This is a great city for me and I really love the fans. I just can’t wait to wear my jersey and play for this brilliant club again.”
Birmingham City take on Norwich City on September 9 as they look to return to winning ways. Trabzonspor meanwhile take on Gençlerbirliği in the Turkish Super League.
