The planned suspension of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege by the leadership of the Senate has hit the rock as the Senate hurriedly embarked on a two-month vacation after the defection of 15 senators from the All Progressives Congress on Tuesday.
The Eagle Online gathered that the Senate had planned to suspended Omo-Agege before embarking on the annual recess.
This was over his involvement in the invasion of Senate Wing of National Assembly by suspected hoodlums, which led to the snatching of mace in the chamber.
The National Assembly Joint Ad Hoc Committee on the issue had recommended the immediate suspension of the representative of Delta Central Senatorial District for 180 legislative days over the theft of the Senate mace.
However, the Senate failed to proceed with the planned suspension following the mass defection of some senators and invasion of the residences of the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, and the Deputy President of the Senate, Dr. Ike Ekweremadu by operatives of the Department of State Services, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Nigeria Police in the early hours of Tuesday.
