A former Deputy governor of Ekiti State, Chief Biodun Olujimi, has wished the state’s Deputy Governor, Funmilayo Olayinka, quick recovery from her ailment.
Olujimi, in a statement made available to The Eagle Online, said though she had not met Olayinka personally, she had observed her and noticed her excellent behavior and courtesies to others.
She said there are few women occupying political offices in Nigeria than for one to take ill.
The Ekiti State Government had on Sunday confirmed that Olayinka was ill and was going to proceed on leave to attend to her health.
Olujimi said in the message: “I just read the story on your site (The Eagle Online).
The rumours have been rife for a while but knowing that too many half truths are peddled against women in office, I refused to believe it.
“However, with the confirmation from government, I will enjoin all women to kindly remember her in their thoughts and prayers.
“There are too few women in office for any one of them to take ill while on service to her fatherland.
“Though we have not had the opportunity of meeting each other, I observed her and noticed her excellent behaviour and courtesies to others.
“I pray that God will quickly restore her to excellent health so she can resume her duties.”
