The Ogun State government has announced its plan to commence mass registration of property title documents to enable owners of residential and commercial properties register their assets and obtain necessary building permits at affordable rates, within a fixed time frame.
The Special Adviser/Director-General, Bureau of Lands and Survey, Mr. Aina Salami, made the revelation at a stakeholders’ meeting in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, with the theme: ‘Delivering Services with Timeline in View; Possibilities and Challenges’.
According to a statement by his Information Officer, Ms. Morolayo Fadairo, Salami said the programme would focus on in-depth review of all the activities being rendered to the public and drastically reduce the number of days by which transactions are carried out in the Bureau to the barest minimum.
The director-general noted that the move would further support investors in achieving their intended business objectives, highlighting some of the Bureau’s achievements, which include improvement of the State’s Geographical Information System (GIS), automation of the agency’s activities, among others.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Tunji Odunlami, said the government is determined to improve the ease of doing business by bringing even development to the nooks and crannies of the state.
He pledged the unflinching support of his ministry for the successful implementation of the proposed programme.
“This will be felt by the generality of the people in creating an enduring economic development and individual prosperity of the people of Ogun State,” Odunlami said.
His counterpart in the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe, appreciated the Bureau’s effort in creating public awareness, which she said would further provide better services to the people.
In his remark, the chairman, Real Estate Developer Association of Nigeria, Ogun State chapter, Mr. Oyeyemi Okusanya, lauded the state government for creating a conducive environment for the private sector to flourish in processing landed title documents, thus creating investor-friendly participation.
