The Ogun State Government has appointed Ayodeji Tella as the acting Rector of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta.
The development, according to the government, was part of general transition programme of the polytechnic into a University of Science and Technology.
However, the suspicion is that the change of guards was as a result of the protest embarked upon by the students of the school.
A news release signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa, asked the former Rector of the institution, Prof. Oludele Itiola, to proceed on terminal leave.
Itiola’s tenure was expected to ends at the end of this month.

The Professor of Chemistry thanked the polytechnic community for their support and cooperation.
Itiola said he had achieved his dream in the Polytechnic except for a filling station which was billed for commissioning next week and the issue of electricity on campus.
A former Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Segun Aninkan, on behalf of the Community appreciated the former Rector for his achievement within his tenure.
