Ogun State police command says it has received information that some cult groups are planning to mark what they call “7/7” on Wednesday, being 7th of July, 2021.
The event, it says, may result in bloodletting and wanton destruction of properties.
It therefore warned any group with such devilish intentions to have a rethink as such move will be met with strong resistance from security agencies.
A statement by the public relations officer of the command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the command’s tactical squads: SWAT, Anti-Cultism, Anti-Kidnapping, as well as the Divisional Police Officers and Area Commanders have been put on red alert.
It affirmed its readiness to deal with members of any unlawful societies who intend to use public places to perpetrate evil.
The command also appealed to parents and guardians to warn their wards to steer clear of any unlawful gathering on, before and after the said date.
“Also, hoteliers are by this release warned not to allow their facilities be used for any cult-related gathering, as owners of such facilities will be liable for prosecution,” the statement read.
It assured members of the public to go about their lawful businesses without fear of harassment, intimidation and molestation.
