The Ogun Police Command said on Tuesday that it had arrested a 22-year-old for allegedly killing his brother, Lateef Bamgbose, by felling a palm tree on his head.
The command’s spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Abeokuta, the state capital, that the incident happened on May 18 at Agboku village, Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Area.
Adejobi said: “Investigation indicated that the suspect and one other person were cutting a palm tree and in the process, it fell on the victim who died on the spot.
“The body of the deceased has been taken to Ilaro General Hospital while investigation into the matter is still ongoing.
“The Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye, has ordered full investigation into the matter and the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigation was concluded.”
