A Federal lawmaker representing Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency in Ogun State, Hon. Kayode Oladele, has said the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State deserves to be applauded over the peaceful and successful outcome of its Ward Congresses over the weekend.
Oladele said it was a sign of political maturity, dedication and loyalty amongst the party members that Ogun State recorded one of the most hitch-free and peaceful congresses in the country.
Oladele, who spoke with The Eagle Online on Monday, praised the efforts of the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, whom, together with a former Governor of the State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, he credited for resolving the differences between them in the overall interest of the party in the State.
He said: “I have always maintained that there are no factions in Ogun State APC even though, as individuals, no doubt there is bound to be differences amongst us, which in itself is the beauty of democracy.”
Oladele further noted that while the nature of democracy allows for differences, it is a sign of political maturity and exemplary leadership on the part of both Amosun and Osoba to put the past behind them and consolidate the gains of the party in the State, particularly as the 2019 general elections are fast approaching.
He, therefore, appealed to all APC leaders across the country to emulate the consummate, laudable and commendable approach of these great leaders towards conflict resolution.
Oladele, who is the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Financial Crimes, called on all members of the APC in the State to join hands with one another in order to ensure that the State remains impenetrable and out of reach for other political parties.
He also appealed to the party leadership to use the same commitment and enthusiasm already displayed towards ensuring the emergence of an Ogun West indigene as the flag bearer in the forthcoming 2019 governorship election in the State.
He said: “If the same unity of purpose displayed and political will exhibited by both Governor Ibikunle Amosun and Chief Osoba, which led to the resolution of their differences, are embraced and repeated during the choice of a governorship candidate from Ogun West, I have no doubt in my mind that Ogun West shall finally realize its collective dream of producing the next Governor of the State.”
