The spokesman for the presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change, General Mohammandu Buhari, and also spokesman for the Save Nigeria Group, Mr. Yinka Odumakin, has denied allegations that the rallies and anti-fuel subsidy removal protest in parts of Lagos State was an agenda pioneered by the CPC as part of its opposition to the Dr. Goodluck Jonathan-led Federal Government.
While denying the allegation, Odumakin described those with such idea as people that lack the capacity to think properly.
He wondered why anyone will accuse the CPC of being behind the protest that was a reaction from the generality of Nigerians over what they considered an unfair action of government towards them.
He said: “Are they saying that everyone that came out belongs to the CPC? It is no secret that Nigerians are opposed to the manner of the removal of fuel subsidy. So, for anyone to think like that is total bunkum. It is only those that think on their anus that will reason like that.”
While also explaining that the planned rallies by the SNG for Saturday is only a victory rally aimed at congratulating Nigerians for standing up for their right, Odumakin said those who are accusing the CPC of spearheading the rally simply because he and Pastor Tunde Bakare, Buhari’s running mate, are involved are only looking for reasons to give the party a bad name.
He however said no amount of blackmail will deter him from the path he has chosen.
It will recalled that Odumakin and Bakare were accused of fighting the CPC battle for spearheading the anti- subsidy removal protest, over which a group took a page advertorial in a national newspaper accusing the party of being the unseen hand behind the rally.
The thinking was also an issue for some international news media.
