The Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, on Tuesday made his first appointments.
Obiano was inaugurated on Monday in Awka, the state capital.
The governor retained Seloka Obaze as the Secretary to the State Government, while he named Ikechukwu Asike as his Chief of Staff and Willie Nwaokoye as his Principal Secretary.
Obaze had served in the government of former Governor Peter Obi as SSG.
Meanwhile, the Anambra State House of Assembly has pledged its support for Obiano to ensure that the state government achieve greater heights.
Chinwe Nwaebili, the Speaker of the House, gave the pledge in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Awka.
Nwaebili said: “I will ensure that the legislature, which I am the head, will stop at nothing in supporting every good intention of the governor for the common good of the Anambra people.
“All I am asking Anambra people is to support him.
“They could criticise him with love when need be for the future of our children and generation unborn.
“This is necessary so that our state can make a great history.”
The speaker said that the immediate past governor of the state, Chief Peter Obi, had done “very well in all sectors of the state’s economy”.
Nwaebili, therefore, advised the new governor to build on the structures on ground.
Obaze, who also spoke with NAN, called on the all citizens to rally round the governor by giving him necessary support and criticism to move the state forward.
Obaze said: “I am confident that with God, the sky is the limit to what this government will do to better the lot of the people.
“All we need is their support.”
He said that the inauguration of Obiano as the governor of the state marked the beginning of a good thing to come in Anambra State.
Chief Nathaniel Uzoma, the Ekiti State Chairman of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, said that the people of Anambra State had shown that there was strength in unity by their presence during the inauguration of Obiano.
Uzoma called on Igbos to be united whereever they lived for the development of Igboland and the country at large.
Alex Ezeobi, the Ohaneze National Youth Leader, called on Igbo youths to be responsive and sensitive to issues affecting their race and be politically enlightened to face their challenges with optimism.
Allison Anadi, the President of Anambra State indigenes in the United States of America, said that the group would give every support to the government of Anambra State to ensure that the growth of the state “from strength to strength”.
