Rivers Angels FC on Saturday defeated FC Robo of Lagos 2-0 in a Nigeria Women Professional League Day Four match at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Amarachi Ojienma and Amaechi Ojini scored the goals for the Angels in the 20th and 90th minutes respectively.
Rivers Angels Coach, Edwin Okon, told sportswriters after the game that he was glad his team won, but his players performed below expectation.
Okon said: “I am glad for the victory, but I will not also hesitate to express my disappointment with the kind of game they played.
“I am not impressed with their performance.
“They did not play according to instructions and that made the game seem difficult for them.”
Okon said the mistakes made would be corrected in subsequent games.
FC Robo Coach, Emmanuel Osahon, said he was happy with the performance of his girls despite the defeat.
Osahon said: “I am happy with my girls despite the loss.
“They are young players that are learning by the day.
“You saw the way they played.
“They actually impressed me.
“I am satisfied with the game.”
Osahon said the second goal they conceded in the 90th minute was mistakenly allowed by his players.
