Edo Queens’ misery in the ongoing 2020/2021 Nigeria Women Football League Premiership Super Six in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State continued on Friday after falling to another 4-0 drubbing.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Edo Queens, who have failed to win a point from the four matches they have played so far, lost 0-4 to Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt.
The Benin-based Edo Queens lost their first match of the competition 1-2 to Delta Queens of Asaba, before falling to a 1-2 defeat to Sunshine Queens FC of Akure on match day two.
On match day three against FC Robo of Lagos, they lost 0-4, before losing to Rivers Angels by the same margin on Friday at the main bowl of the Dipo Dina Stadium.
Vivian Ikechukwu headed Rivers Angels in front, off an Alice Ogebe cross in the 10th minute, while Ogebe turned from provider to scorer to double their lead in the 31st minute.
This was after she rounded off two Edo Queens’ defenders before slotting the ball into the back of the net.
Oghenebrume Ikehua scored her third and fourth goals of the competition in the 44th and 87th minutes respectively to extend Rivers Angels’ lead.
Edo Queens will now be hoping not to leave the competition without winning any point when they face the Bayelsa Queens of Yenagoa in their final game on Sunday.
On their part, Rivers Angels have already garnered eight points from four matches and are in contention for a qualification ticket.
