A clinical dietician, Olushola Abimbola Malomo, has enjoined Nigerians to take lots of fruit juice stressing that regular intake of fruit juice is highly beneficial to the body.
Malomo stated this on Tuesday in Lagos during the Chivita low added sugar campaign organized by the company to enlighten the public about Chivita 100 per cent fruit juice.
According to Malomo, it is always necessary to have juice in our diets as it aid digestion and helps in detoxification and it is far better to have a fruit juice that is already prepared because at times it can be a herculean task to be expunging the juice from the fruit.
He stated that studies reveal that those who take fruit juice do have more adequate nutrients in their bodies than those who don’t.
Malomo said: “One small glass, that’s 150m of fruit juice contains 100 per cent of the daily requirements of vitamin c.”
According to him, since vitamin c is soluble in water, those who are scared of gaining weight need not bother about anything as 100 per cent fruit juice helps in weight reduction.
Malomo who is also the National Publicity Secretary of the Nutrition Society of Nigeria, reiterated that vitamin c is important for the growth of the body and it repairs damage tissues in the body.
He also enjoined Nigerians to also take more of juice because of the presence of frolic acid as frolic acid helps in building red blood cells and highly beneficial to pregnant women as well.
He further stated that 100 per cent fruit juice is a good diet for the heart and it helps in preventing cardiovascular disease as well as it been an instant supplier of energy and he lamented why mothers do not include fruit juice in their children school’s packs.
Malomo further advised that fruit juice should be taken early in the morning with the breakfast because it helps in proper functioning of the digestive tract.
He listed other usefulness of 100 per cent fruit juice as helping to fight stroke, high blood pressure, fighting skin disorder and promoting hair growth.
Earlier, the brand Manager of Chivita, Demola stated that the importance of the “low added sugar campaign” was to engage relevant stakeholders on the processes as the company promotes “healthy living” and to demystify the myths behind juice and its consumption.
