The Senate on Tuesday in Abuja swore in Dr. Zagbayi Nuhu as Peoples Democratic Party Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District.
Nuhu was elected in a by-election to replace late Senator Dahiru Kuta, who died while serving in the upper chamber.
In another development, the Senate confirmed receipt of four letters of appointment for confirmation from President Godluck Jonathan.
The letters seek the confirmation of Chima Nwizu as a justice of the Supreme Court.
Others are Captain Mukhtar Usman (retired) as the Director-General of Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, and Jonah Madugu as a Commissioner in the Federal Civil Service Commission to represent Benue/Nasarrawa/Plateau.
The last letter is seeking further amendment to the 2014 National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Amendment Bill.
