Akenele Omeiza of the University of Benin has won gold in the 400m male category of the 24th games of the Nigerian University Association Games.
Similarly, Omolara Omotosho of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba has won the gold in the 400m female event.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Games, holding at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, will end on Saturday.
Omeiza won the males’ gold in 46:70 secs, beating schoolmate Oshasha Simeon, who returned 47:45 secs, while Charles Ebelebe from Bayero University Kano won bronze with 47:61 secs.
In the female event, Omotosho won the gold at 52:28 secs, while Patience George of the University of Calabar won silver with a time of 53:40 secs.
Favour Nwokike of UNIBEN won the bronze in 59:03 secs.
The 200m male event’s gold was won by Odele Tega of UNIBEN in 21:65 secs, while Mark Orduen from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria won silver in 21:97 secs.
Chukwuma Madunta from the University of Port Harcourt won bronze after returning 21:13 secs.
Similarly, Ngozichukwuka Ogodo of UNIPORT won the gold in the 10,000m female category with 41:17:65 secs, while Egedeuzu Chinwendu from Abia State University won silver at 49:17:21.
Maye Ruth from the Kogi State University won the bronze in 49:41:01 secs.
Peace Uko from UNIPORT won the gold in 200m female, Patience Okon from UNICAL won silver, while Ayobami Ojediran from OAU won bronze.
The long jump men event gold was won by Okulaja Babajide of the Federal University of Technology, Akure in 7:43:08, while Michael Diete-Spiff from UNIPORT won silver at 7:35:20.
Nwoko Tochukwu from Ahmadu Bello University won bronze in 7:19:03.
Thedoas Okpara of UNIPORT won gold in the men high jump with a 2:05m leap, Ayeni Babafemi from the University of Lagos won the silver with 1:85m.
Theophilus Ajoyi from Delta State University, Abraka won bronze with 1:87m.
