Transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange recorded marginal growth on Monday with the market indices appreciating by 0.1 per cent.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the All-Share Index appreciated by 35.83 points to close at 37,386.36 against the 37,350.53 posted on Friday.
Similarly, the market capitalisation, which opened at N11.94 trillion, grew by N11 billion to close at N11.95 trillion.
Nestle led the gainers’ table, gaining N2.20 to close at N990 per share.
Unilever came second on the gainers’ table with N2.09 to close at N66.55, while Dangote Cement inched by N1.50 to close at N186 per share.
PZ Cussons gained 88k to close at N52, while Dangote Sugar rose by 60k to close at N10.50 per share.
On the other hand, Cadbury topped the losers’ chart, dropping N6.45 to close at N58.08 per share.
International Breweries dipped by N1.50 to close at N26.50, while Total lost N1.40 to close at N168.50 per share.
Julius Berger dropped N1.01 to close at N55, while Flour Mills depreciated 85k to close at N85 per share.
NAN reports that the volume of shares traded dropped by 5.22 per cent as investors exchanged 345.19 million shares valued at N2.86 billion in 5,790 deals.
This was against the 364.22 million shares worth N3.89 billion traded in 6,034 deals on Friday.
The Financial Services sector remained the most active, accounting for 234.29 millions shares worth N1.56 billion in 3,073 deals.
Unity Bank was investors‘ delight with a total of 60.59 million shares valued at N39.72 million exchanged in 78 deals.
UBA trailed with 35.38 million shares worth N297.91 million traded in 552 deals, while FCMB accounted for 30.46 million shares valued at N147.28 million traded in 138 deals.
