Weekly activities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Friday closed on impressive note as the market capitalisation rose by N162 billion.
The News Agency of Nigeira reports that the market capitalisation, which opened at N11.64 trillion, grew by 1.39 per cent to close at N11.79 trillion.
The All-Share Index rose by 500.65 points or 1.39 per cent to close at 36,907.81 against the 36,400.16 achieved on Thursday due to price appreciation by some blue chips.
Dangote Cement recorded the highest price gain of N6.89 to close at N187 per share.
Nestle came second on the gainers’ chart with a gain of N5 to close at N950, while Nigerian Breweries gained N4.50 to close at N179 per share.
Julius Berger rose by N3.75 to close at N58.25, while International Breweries appreciated by N2.60 to close at N28.67 per share.
Conversely, Total led the losers’ table with a loss of N7 to close at N165 per share.
Larfarge Wapco lost N2.85 to close at N92.15, while FBN Holdings dropped 42k to close at N18.57 per share.
National Salt and Oando dipped by 40k each to close at N12.90 and N15.10 per share, respectively.
In all, investors staked N4.17 billion on 484.35 million shares in 5,702 deals on Friday in contrast to the 380.90 million shares worth N3.53 billion exchanged in 5,638 deals on Thursday.
Abbey Plc drove the activity chart, accounting for 144.39 million shares valued at N186.28 million.
FCMB trailed with 51.83 million shares worth N259.14 million, while Fidelity Bank accounted for 40.02 million shares valued at N122.67 million.
