The Nigerian Stock Exchange All-Share Index rose by 0.63 per cent on Tuesday following price growth recorded by some blue chips.
The index rose by 236.21 basis points to close at 37,514.55 from 37,278.34 attained on Monday.
A breakdown of the price movement showed that Nigerian Breweries topped the gainers’ table with a gain of N6.45 to close at N173.50 per share.
Lafarge WAPCO gained N4.30 to close at N105.30, while Glaxo Smithkline rose by N1.01 to close at N66.01 per share.
Stanbic IBTC gained 85k to close at N19.95, while PZ Cussons grew by 51k to close at N39 per share.
Also, the market capitalisation appreciated by N76 billion or 0.64 per cent to close at N11.986 trillion, against the N11.910 trillion posted on Monday.
Market analysts attributed the growth to impressive third quarter results released by some quoted companies.
On the other hand, Forte Oil led the losers’ chart by N5.33 to close at N67.65 per share.
It was trailed by UAC Property with a loss of 31k to close at N18.50, while National Salt Company of Nigeria lost 30k to close at N12.05 per share.
Zenith lost 25k to close at N21.20, while UBA dipped by 20k to close at N7.44 per share.
In all, the volume of shares traded appreciated by 21.97 per cent, while the value grew by 22.05 per cent.
Investors traded 294.42 million shares worth N3.21 billion in 5,151 deals.
This was against the 241.39 million shares valued at N2.63 billion traded in 4,066 deals on Monday.
Wapic Insurance remained the most traded stock for the second consecutive day, trading 43.84 million shares worth N37.02 million.
GT Bank accounted for 29.15 million shares valued at N738.01 million, while Access Bank sold 23.14 million shares worth N229.23 million.
Fidelity Bank traded 17.86 million shares worth N48.12 million, while UBA traded 17.21 million shares valued N132.69 million.
