Trading on the Nigerian Stock Exchange was on the upbeat on Thursday as the All Share Index recorded 0.28 per cent growth.
The News Agency of Nigerian (NAN) reports that the index, which opened at 36,299.30, appreciated by 101.07 points or 0.28 per cent, to close at 36,400.37.
Also, the market capitalisation rose by N32 billion to close at N11.544 trillion from the N11.512 trillion recorded on Wednesday.
Nigerian Breweries led the gainers’ chart with N5.99 to close at N167.99 per share.
Julius Berger followed with N2.78 to close at N74.71 per share, while Cadbury grew by N1.85 to close at N52.85 per share.
Champion appreciated by N1.54 to close at N17.03, while Dangote Sugar rose by 36k to close at N10.90 per share.
On the other hand, GlaxoSmithKline led the losers’ chart by N5 to close at N60 per share.
Total depreciated by N2.90 to close at N157 per share, while Northern Nigeria Flour Mills dipped by 81k to close at N28.49 per share.
EvansMed fell by 47k to close at N4.27 per share, while NAHC0 dropped 32k to close at N6.20 per share.
In all, the volume of shares traded grew by 376.1 million or 168 per cent to close 599.81 million shares worth N5.1 billion in 5,553 deals.
This was against the 223.71 million shares valued at N2 billion traded in 4,950 deals on Wednesday.
ETI emerged the most traded stock as it sold 179.64 million shares worth N2.56 billion.
Wema Bank sold 136.28 million shares valued at N143.08 million, while Unity Bank traded 46.64 million shares worth 23.53 million.
