Kano Pillars Football Club on Sunday defeated visiting Yobe Desert Stars FC 3-1 in a week eight fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League.
In the match played at the Pillars Stadium in Kano and watched by a large crowd as usual host captain Rabiu Ali opened scoring.
Ali scored with a long range effort in the 28th minute, while Chinedu Sunday doubled the lead in the 38th minute.
David Ebuka finished the demolition in 66th with a fine effort, before Philip Auta of Yobe Stars scored a consolation goal in the 87th minute.
Coach Ibrahim Musa of Kano Pillars, speaking shortly after the match, said his team played better and won.
He said: “In spite of having average players in the field, we played better and won the game.
“My next mission is to go to Kaduna and take the maximum points against Kada Stars.
“We will also go back and study the match for necessary corrections in subsequent games.”
Kano Pillars now have 11 points from eight games and will face the Kada Stars of Kaduna in their next match
