Ifeanyi Ubah FC of Nnewi will on Saturday visit Rangers International FC of Enugu in an oriental derby, which is expected to be explosive.
Ifeanyi Ubah is seeking to maintain its leading position in the Nigeria Professional Football League table.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Anambra Warriors beat Rangers to the top after beating Plateau United of Jos in their week 10 match in Nnewi on April 6.
The Nnewi outfit now has 19 points with six wins, one draw and three losses after 10 games.
Ifeanyi Ubah’s position justifies the club’s huge expenditure on nationals from Brazil, Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mali and Niger.
The presence of the foreigners makes the Nnewi side the Nigerian club side with the highest amalgam of players from different countries at the moment.
In the encounter with Rangers, Ifeanyi Ubah FC club would be relying on the fire power of the foreign trio of Seka Pascal (Ivory Coast), Kofi Boaye (Ghana), Aberico Barbosa Da Silva (Brazil) and the Nigerian prodigy, Bright Onyedikachi.
Coach Mitko Dobrev told NAN in Nnewi that the club was taking each game at a time, adding that he was hopeful of positive result from Enugu.
Dobrev said: “Out target is the three points available in every game.
“We will go with tactics and strength, but I know it is not going to be easy.”
On their part, Rangers, popularly known as the Flying Antelopes, are going into the match under pressure to win, especially after drawing 1-1 away to MFM FC of Lagos.
Rangers are one point behind FC Ifeanyi Ubah with five wins, three draws and two losses after the same number of matches.
A win for Rangers will return them to the top of the table but that will not be easy as their opponents, Ifeanyi Ubah, have the arsenal to maintain their current position.
In other matches of week 11 fixtures, NPFL whipping boys, Ikorodu United of Lagos, with just one point from 10 matches, will attempt to record their first win as they play host to Sunshine Stars of Akure.
Nasarawa United, in the 19th position with two points from seven matches, will need to pull down Pillars of Kano at the Sanni Abacha Stadium in Kano.
Nasarawa’s victory would be its first in the season.
