Enyimba maintained their leadership of the Nigeria league table after they played out a 2-2 draw at Akwa United in a Week 21 game in Uyo on Wednesday.
Enyimba lead with 38 points from 21 games, while closest rivals, Sunshine Stars, will only play against Sharks in Akure on Thursday.
Hosts Akwa United started on a good note when Aniekpeno Udoh leapt highest to head his team in front in the third minute.
On the half hour mark, Enyimba’s new man, Musa Najare, levelled scores for ‘The People’s Elephant’.
Aniekan Ekpe restored Akwa United’s lead from the penalty spot in the 57th minute after Enyimba’s captain, Chinedu Udoji, was penalised for bringing down Aniekpeno Udoh.
In the 63rd minute, debutant Alloy Browne, who replaced Najere at the beginning of the second half, restored parity for Enyimba to make it 2-2.
Ten minutes to the end of the game, Akwa goalkeeper, Olufemi Kayode, denied Ezekiel Bassey from point-blank range before Harrison cleared the danger.
Elsewhere, Nasarawa United beat El-Kanemi in a six-goal thriller, Lobi Stars mauled Bayelsa United three nil, Rangers piped FC Taraba by a lone goal, Warri Wolves routed FC Ifeanyi Ubah three-nil, Abia Warriors handed Giwa FC a 2-0 defeat, Kwara United beat Dolphins 2-1, Shooting Stars scored two late goals to beat Wikki Tourists 2-1 in Ibadan, while Kano Pillars earned 2-1 win over Heartland of Owerri.
