A non governmental organization, the Initiatives for North Central Development, has commended members of the Senate for choosing Senator Bukola Saraki as the Senate President.
The group said Saraki’s antecedents recommend him for the job.
Speaking after a meeting of the group in Abuja on Thursday, the President of INCD, Prince Mark Elayo, said the emergence of Saraki is in line with the demand of the group for the retention of the position of Senate president in the zone.
Elayo also commended the former Senate President, David Mark, for successfully piloting the affairs of the Senate in the last eight years, making it one of the most stable institutions in the country.
The group urged Senator Saraki to continue in the noble tracks of the Senate by showing maturity, leadership and focus in the handling of affairs in the upper legislative chambers.
In Elayo’s words: “Saraki’s emergence is good for the country. He is detribalised and understands the politics and issues in the country. He should just continue in the tradition of the Senate by showing understanding of the problems of the country and making effort to solve them and by carrying everybody along.”
On Mark, Elayo said the North Central zone is proud of the performance of the former Senate president and has shown that with the right person, institutions can be transformed for the good of the country.
