Super Eagles and Chelsea defender, Kenneth Omeruo, may find himself in Chelsea’s first team after Coach Jose Mourinho excluded the Nigerian youngster from the list of players that will be loaned out for the coming 2013/2014 season.
The 19-year old center-back, who has become a key member of the Coach Stephen Keshi-led Super Eagles squad following an impressive showing at the AFCON 2013 championship in South Africa, spent last season on loan at ADO Den Haag in the Dutch Eredivisie, making 26 starts from 27 league appearances for the Dutch side.
In an interview with Chelsea’s official website, Jose Mourinho confirmed that players that will be going on loan this summer will include Nathaniel Chalobah, Josh McEachran, Lucas Piazon and young Brazilian full back, Wallace.
The young Nigerian, Omeruo, was missing from this list presented by the Portuguese manager, giving room to the belief that he will have some playing time at the Stamford bridge outfit.
Mourinho told chelseafc.com: “From these kids we have here in Asia, Josh McEachran will go on loan, Chalobah will go on loan and for sure and will be back to stay for 2014/15.″
“Lucas Piazon on loan, Wallace on loan, because he has no work permit, and he goes on loan one more season but in Europe, not South America, to make it more easy for him. Islam Feruz of course stays in the Under-21s, and Bertrand Traore who is a kid and on trial needs to wait until he is 18 and we will see.”
Teammates, Omeruo and John Obi Mikel, who are still on break following their participation at the just concluded 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup with the Super Eagles of Nigeria, are yet to rejoin the Blues squad currently in Indonesia for their pre-season tour of Asia.
The Nigerian duo are expected to join the pre season training tour on July 28.
