Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin on Saturday beat visiting Akwa Starlets of Uyo 2-1 in their Week 7 fixture of the 2014/2015 Nigeria National League.
The match, played at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, saw the first half ending one goal apiece.
This was after goals from Insurance’s Charles Omokaro and Starlets’ Okon Aniekene in the 25th and 27th minutes respectively.
Insurance’s winning goal came in the 51st minute through Ikponwosa Ugbefu, after a goalmouth scramble.
With the victory, Insurance now have 10 points from seven matches, having won three of their matches and drawn one.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the three matches won by Insurance were at home, while the drawn game was at away.
Insurance had won their Week 6 match by defeating Nembe City FC of Bayelsa, and will now move up the ladder in Division B Group 2 of the competition.
