The Nigeria Labour Congress has given kudos to Governor Adams Oshiomhole for the palliative measures announced by the state government to cushion the effects of the recent increase in the price of petrol from N65 per litre to N97 per litre.
In a commendation letter signed by the state’s NLC Chairman, Comrade Emmanuel Ademokun, the union expressed its sincere appreciation for the palliatives announced by the governor in a statewide broadcast.
The letter read in part: “The State Council is particularly proud to note that the Comrade Governor is again the first to announce and implement the relief package in the country.
“Your action is a testimony of a pragmatic and pro-active leadership guided by the drive to better the life of the people of Edo State and Nigeria at large.
“You have left no one in doubt that you are truly a humanist, a democrat, above all a God fearing personality.
“Comrade Governor what more can we say than to pray that as you have responded to emancipate our people from illiteracy by your total free education for the youth and free health for the aged.
“God will continue to increase you in wisdom, health and long life. Amen.”
The union said it was looking forward to the palliatives being extended to public servants in the state.
In a similar development, kinsmen of Professor Oserheimen Osunbor, a gubernatorial aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State, have given kudos to Oshiomhole for solving the seeming intractable water problem in their community.
The people of Iruekpen Community, on a thank you visit to the governor and led by Mr. Ernest Okhiria, said: “We would like to express our sincere gratitude to your government for extending the dividends of democracy across the state and by way of reconstructing our Central Primary School and equipping it for 21st Century learning.
“In a special way, we would also like to say thank you for extending the services of water supply to our community. The history of water problem dates back to close to forty years.
“As a community, we tried to sink a borehole which did not yield any result.
“But with your wisdom, you have surpassed all other efforts to meet the needs of over 20,000 inhabitants of Iruekpen community.
“We want again to express our commendation for the high impact development your government is implementing in Edo State.
“We hereby pledge our unalloyed loyalty to your government like other communities that have benefitted from your statewide developmental efforts.”
Responding, Oshiomhole said: “We will continue to do our best to improve the lives of the people.
“We are determined to ensure that every community in the state feels the impact of governance.”
