The National Judicial Council has thrown out the names forwarded to it for consideration as Chief Justices for Osun, Kwara and Oyo States.
The NJC turned down the nominees because it said the governors of the states seeking approval did not present the most senior judges in their states for consideration.
While the Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, sent in the name of Justice Olubunmi Oyewole of the Lagos Judicial Division for consideration as the Chief Justice of Osun State, the Adamawa State Governor, Alhaji Murtala Nyako, recommended his wife, Justice Binta Nyako, for the position.
Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State recommended Justice Suleiman Durosinlorun Kawu as Chief Judge of the state.
The Council told the governors that only the most senior officer in their various states would be considered for ratification.
It thus advised them to re-forward names for consideration based on seniority.
