The Nigerian Immigration Service is working towards total reforms in all its service windows for a more effective service delivery, particularly in migration issues.
Comptroller General of the Service, Mohammad Babandede, said that the importance of the reforms in keeping with global best practices in the Service could not be over emphasised.
Babandede said this on Saturday at the ongoing Comptroller General of Immigration annual conference in Benin.
News Agency of Nigeria reports that Babandede delivered an expert paper on Reforms in the NIS: practical approaches to achieving success.
He noted that looking back at the various regimes of passport issuance and administration, Visa issuance and process, Border Management and Security, Migration Management, Strategic Communications and public engagement, the reforms had become imperative.
He added that the reforms would help improve service delivery and hostmanship at NIS service windows, digitalisation of NIS facilities and processes, eradication of third party in the procurement of NIS facilities and touting ease of doing business.
NAN reports that at the technical session, participants broke into syndicates of five to chart a way forward towards achieving the reforms.
The syndicate were Passport, Documents and process Reforms, Migrant e-registration, NIS Border Management Strategy and implementation among others.
The groups are expected to make presentations for adoption of communique that would guide the NIS in its road map towards better service delivery.
