The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations on Monday said it had extended the deadline for membership re-certification exercise fromOctober 1 to November 30 to enable members meet their financial obligations.
Willy Ogbidi, the Secretary of NIPR Membership Service Committee, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja.
Ogbidi said the institute had to extend the exercise because some members complained of non-payment of their salaries in their various organisations.
He said some members in the military and other security agencies were also busy fighting insurgents in the North East.
NAN recalls that the President of the institute, Dr. Rotimi Oladele, had on September 1 said the institute would apply the rules on any member who failed to certify or re-certify his or her membership before October 1, 2015.
Oladele made the statement when he led his team on a visit to the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Information, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan.
