NIMASA serves detention notice on NLNG vessels
The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency on Monday served detention notice on vessels chartered by the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas Limited.
This was contained in a statement issued in Lagos by Isichei Osamgbi, the Deputy Director, Public Relations of NIMASA.
The statement said the action was forced on NIMASA by the NLNG’s refusal and failure to abide by the outcome of the negotiated settlement arrived at through the mediation process it subscribed to.
It said that NLNG had disregarded Nigerian laws after reaching agreement with NIMASA on its outstanding debt and paid $20 million.
“Contrary to NLNG’s position, NIMASA is not aware of any court order against it or any suit brought by NLNG against NIMASA,” Osamgbi said.
The statement urged the NLNG to pay its levies and observe all its obligations under the laws of Nigeria in which it is operating.
